Recruitment Programs

  • Early Interview Week (EIW) is an on-campus interview program, during which the majority of our private sector interviews occur.
  • September Interview Program (SIP) and October Interview Program (OIP) provide additional opportunities for employers to recruit on-campus.
  • Georgetown Regional Interview Programs (GRIPs) are conducted in consortium with Cornell Law School in Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Chicago and Dallas. Student commitment to these areas is demonstrated by the fact that they travel to these programs at their own expense.
  • Request for Resumes (RFR) program offers employers an additional opportunity to review resumes from Georgetown law students. Resumes are collected on behalf of employers from students. Employers then arrange interviews with students after reviewing their resumes.
  • Georgetown Interview Program (GIP), coordinated by the Office of Public Interest and Community Service (OPICS), provides federal, state, and local government employers the opportunity to recruit Georgetown Law second year law students for paid summer jobs and third year law students for entry-level positions.

  • Spring Job Fair provides small and medium firms the opportunity to interview Georgetown University Law Center students for summer and post-graduation positions. It is comprised of 2 programs – the February Interview Program and the March Interview Program. Each Interview Program is pre-screened, and takes place on campus.
  • 1L Spring Recruiting Program allows employers to submit a job posting or request a resume collection with or without prescreened on-campus interviews. On-campus interviews take place on Fridays during the Spring semester.

Early in the spring semester, our schools co-sponsor the Public Sector Recruiting Program, which includes over 100 local and national public sector employers. Participating employers recruit Georgetown and GW law students through pre-scheduled interviews, resume collections and informal information exchange.

On August 15, 2008, we will hold the fourth annual IMPACT Career Fair for students with disabilities. The Fair is co-hosted with the University of Arizona Rogers College of Law, and law students from across the nation are invited to attend.

Why Recruit at Georgetown Law?

Georgetown Law is located in the heart of the nation’s capital. As an institution, our Jesuit heritage leads us to an emphasis on jurisprudence, history, and ethics that extends beyond the traditional study of law. With this history and in this setting, we strive to develop outstanding student lawyers who will contribute to their communities while practicing law at the highest level.

Our student body is among the most talented and diverse in the nation:

  • The undergraduate grade point averages and LSAT scores place these students in the top two percent of the entire U.S. law school applicant pool.
  • For the entering class of 2007:
    • The 50th percentile LSAT was 170, and the mean GPA was 3.67.
    • This year’s entering class has students from 47 states and 13 foreign countries, representing 200 different colleges and universities.
    • This year, almost two-thirds (63%) of our Day students have taken some time off before coming to law school.
    • Eighty students in the full-time and part-time divisions have advanced degrees; 11 have Ph.D.’s.
    • Of the students matriculating, 43% were women and 28% were minority students.

The Law Center offers both full time (day division) and part time (evening division) programs leading to the degree of Juris Doctor. The same admission requirements and standards of performance apply in both day and evening divisions. Members of the full time faculty teach courses in both divisions accompanied by members of the adjunct faculty in certain specialized courses.

Law Firm Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization or "SEO" is a process of transforming elements of your website to facilitate it to rank well on search engines for specifically selected keywords and search phrases. There is no "one" element of SEO independently that really makes your website rank higher on search engines such as Google, Yahoo! and MSN, but rather the collective effort of many elements working simultaneously to improve how your website interact with search engines in order to get your target market audience directly to your website.

Search Engine Optimization is a very complex and time intensive process that should only be performed by experienced specialists skilled with a variety of ethical techniques and a thorough understanding of search engine guidelines. Having an inexperienced company, or a company that uses "short-cuts" and unethical procedures and tactics to achieve your website high rankings can be absolutely detrimental to your business possibly resulting in the blacklisting of your website. Our team of professional SEO specialists will carefully create an effective "virtual road map" for your website by evaluating search terms and keywords that are relevant to your law firm and the type of cases you handle, ensuring the proper elements are contained within your website to give you the best possible chance of achieving high rankings on search engines such as Google, Yahoo! And MSN.
